Marguerite Noirel was born in Reims where she studied at the School of Fine Arts. She now works and lives in Paris. She first showed her works in 1990 at a collective exhibition held at the Grand Palais in Paris, and later participated in several art exhibitions in France, Spain, and San Francisco, California.

In recent years, she set up personal exhibits in three galleries in Paris, in Bar le Duc where she was sponsored by the General Council. She is now affiliated with the Galerie Claudine Lustman in Paris, with the Swiss Galerie Saint Légier, Galerie des Quatre Coins in Lapalisse. 

Creative research, with symbolic and allusive representation Material : second use of wrought iron (old tools, miscellaneous metallic pieces from old machines, old and recent metallic wastes usually thrown away) ; occasional use of wood, bones, roots, other metals. 

Technique & finish : arc welding, with rusty aspect slightly shining ; polychromy on some pieces.

Françoise Monin, art historian and editor of Museart magazine, writes : " the shapes arc welded by Marguerite Noirel are hieratic and symmetric... the rounds lines come from mechanical torsions and shadows from industrial cutouts... she uses a formula set down five centuries ago by Léonardo Da Vinci 'poetry lays beyond monsters'. Sparks fly from unexpected proximity... Between mythology and current events, she shapes out contemporary gods. " 

Noirel would not call her research recycling. She wants to give to old, worn-out tools a new identity, a formal aspect more to be read than touched, as she fancies them a sort of hermetic scripture to which she endeavours to assign a new sense..
